About Us
Influence of hip-hop culture is everywhere. It’s in the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the music we listen to and now in the water. You’ve heard the saying, “There must be something in the water,” well, it is, and it all started in 2003, with a newly formed water company—Hip Hop H2O.
Targeting kids and young adults that have yet to recognize the value of drinking plenty of water, versus sodas and other sugar-flavored drinks, Hip Hop H2O is the healthy alternative, with a cool, hip twist.
Bernice McKinney, the president of Hip Hop H2O, introduced the St. Louis area to the new brand of bottled water, which is bottled by several water processing plants across the country. It was her grandson Eric R. Mayes Jr., whose love for hip-hop sparked the design for the label. The idea to incorporate a hip-hop theme into the product was encouraged by the fact that the world of hip-hop is taking over. Since its establishment, the hip-hop industry has grown into a billion-dollar-per-year industry and continues to attract the attention of major mainstream corporations worldwide. Based on sales, hip-hop is the second most popular music in the world.
Hip Hop H2O is making moves to be a part of that extraordinary money-making phenomenon. If hip-hop is what keeps our youth excited and interested, Hip Hop H2O is definitely on the right track. Currently, Hip Hop H2O is venturing into other markets, including Chicago, Detroit, Kansas City, New York, New Jersey, North & South Carolina, Memphis, Nashville, LA, Miami, Dallas, Las Vegas and Atlanta, so be sure and look for it coming soon to a city near you.
